July 19, 2011 - According to reports an American cruise ship passenger was assaulted and later died from his injuries. The cruise ship passenger identified as 66 year old Antonio Mendoza and his wife exited a cruise ship on May 18th in the southern Italian city of Naples.
Mandoza and his wife were approached by two men on a scooter that attempted to steal a Rolex that Mandoza was wearing, according to reports. The men on the scooter grabbed Mendoza’s arm in an attempt to steal the Rolex and the cruise ship passenger struggled with one of the men and was thrown to the ground striking his head.
Mendoza was transported to the hospital, where he was operated on, but did not regain consciousness. Naples police are still searching for the men that assaulted Antonio Mendoza, resulting in his death.
