August 1, 2010 ( by Horatio Algren) According to reports the gangplank for a cruise ship collapsed and two people were transported to the hospital.
According to Battalion Chief Steve Ricci the gangplank for the Bahia Belle collapsed Saturday night, when approximately 100 people were waiting to board the ship. People were frightened when the gangplank collapsed, until they realized that the water was approximately three feet deep.
According to Ricci the entire gangplank buckled and then collapsed and firefighters searched the water in boats. Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Ricci stated there were thirteen people that refused medical treatment.
There were reports by witnesses that a baby in a stroller fell into the water, but the baby was not injured.
The Mississippi style cruise ship Bahia Belle transports hotel guests from the Bahia Resort around Mission Bay.
